Mwiko Giraffe Salad-Tongs

These wooden salad tongs would be called mwikos in Kenya. They are lightweight and long lastiing. Most mwikos last roughly ten years. They were hand-carved by one of our suppliers in the Jumuiya (Eastern) region of Africa. These tongs are 100% biodegradable. They will easily be part of your kitchen for a decade and will help you create treasured memories. You can use this particular design for cooking and serving food, all year round. Some basic care instructions: Handwash and coat it in cooking oil twice a year. If they begin to fall apart, sand them down, then wash and oil again. They should turn into thin sticks of wood that you can throw into a fire ten years or more later. Make them yours today or gift them to a loved one. Measurements: 11 1/2" long and 3 3/4" at the widest point (the scooping area). The scoop is also 5" long. The widest portion of the handle is 1" wide while the handle itself is 1/2" thick. The mwikos are a mix of brown and darker-toned wood. They are hand painted with non-toxic paint and not dyed. They are not glazed with any chemicals.
